Dr. Thomas Stickel, OD

Dr. Thomas Stickel has been a part of the The Eye Center since 2002. He manages and treats eye diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease. He is also experienced in the fitting of contacts and glasses, including specialty contacts for corneal diseases.

Dr. Stickel is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO). This advanced optometric certification is achieved by fewer than 10% of optometrists in private practice. Doctors who are awarded this distinction have completed case studies on complex conditions they have personally treated. He has also served as a guest lecturer at the UMSL School of Optometry.

After graduating from college with degrees in Spanish and Pre-Optometry, Dr. Stickel attended the Indiana University School of Optometry. Dr. Stickel’s studies on contact lenses won national awards for student research and were published in scientific journals.

When he’s not in the office, Dr. Stickel enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, along with an assortment of dogs and cats. He enjoys playing tennis, bicycling, and working out, along with gardening and sometimes fixing things around the house. A native Indiana Hoosier, Dr. Stickel is a lifelong Cardinals fan.
